खोग्यु शब्द “ खोक्यु “ को संचिप्त उच्चारण हुन सक्छ किनभने तमु भासामा खो भनेको मूल हो र क्यु भनेको पानी हो ( खोक्यु = पानीको मूल ) तरसमयसंगै भाषाको उच्चारणमा परिवर्तन भै खोग्यु हुन गएको बुझिन्छ। योपानीको कुवा तामागी बासिन्दाहरुका लागि एकसय वर्स बढी समय देखिमहत्वपुर्ण पानीको स्रोत भएको मानिन्छ। यस मूलमा पानी सालभारि रहन्छतर खडेरीको समयमा पानीको तह कम हुन सक्छ। खोग्यु तामागीनिवासीहरुका साथै पशुहरुका लागि पनि महत्वपुर्ण स्थान हुदै आइरहेकोछ। सुखा मौसममा परम्परागत रुपमा पानी ल्याउने काम गर्ने महिलाहरु लाइनमा बस्न बाट जोगिन बिहान अत्तिसबेरै देखीनै मूलमा आइपुग्ने गर्दछन्। हामी सबैलाई थाहानै छ किगाउमा संचार, सामाजीकरण, र अनऔपचारिक सुचनाहरु आदानप्रदानगर्नका लागि पधेरो तथा कुवा एक महत्वपुर्ण स्थान हो।

In the Tamu language, “kho” translates as “source” and “kyu” refers to “water” – hence a “water source”. Over time the pronunciation has changed to Khogyu for this place. Although the water supply may decrease during dry season, Khogyu remains a dependable source of clean water for humans as well as animals. To avoid congestion, women generally arrive early to fetch water during dry season and the site therefore becomes a social gathering point where information is exchanged among Tamagi residents. In Nepal, water posts (“padhero”) have always served as locations for the exchange of information.
